Have you purchased any courses on Udemy which you want to download? If yes, then you are at right place. In this post, I will walk you through how to download any Udemy courses for free without any software. I have purchased a lot of courses on Udemy and due to slow internet connections, I sometimes get annoyed when it starts buffering. Udemy doesn’t provide any feature to download the course, so you have to watch it online which is quite frustrating sometimes if your internet is really slow. So, I prefer to download some courses and watch it at any time even without an internet connection.

Downloading Udemy courses is an absolutely easy task and it won’t require you many technical skills. I will illustrate you one of the best and efficient methods of downloading Udemy courses for free.

Initial Setup

Step 1: You have to download and Install Python in your PC. I downloaded and installed Python 2.7.12 but you can install the latest version also.

Step 2: Once the installation is finished, you have to add the Environment variables in your system. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 then: Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings (located on the top-left position) > Environment Variables…

If you are using Windows 10, then you simply type “Edit Environment Variables” in Search located in the taskbar.

Step 3: With PATH variable selected click on Edit.. and type the following and hit Ok.

Step 4: Now launch the Windows Powershell with Administrator rights. You can use Windows search to find Powershell in Windows 8/8.1/10.

Step 5: You have to install YouTube-dl to download Udemy courses. Now type the following in Windows Powershell:

It will only take a couple of minutes to download.

I have assumed that you have Udemy account and already purchased a course or subscribed any free courses. As the script is already downloaded in your system, you can download any purchased courses for free. At first, I will make a directory to store my downloaded files.

Step 1: Inside the Windows Powershell, type cd\  and press Enter to return to C:\ path. Again type D: and hit Enter. Now make a directory with the following command: mkdir <directory name> (in this case, mkdir Udemy)

Step 2: Type cd Udemy and hit Enter to switch to the newly created Udemy directory.

Step 3: You have to provide your username(i.e email address) and password and also the course URL. Type the following command to initialize the download:
