Knowing those tricks can help us achieve our goal more easily, efficiently, consume less time, even provides more functionality that we are totally unaware of, enrich our experience of using technology and so on.

1. Lightshot
Taking screenshots is some time really useful and if you are students or Web Developer then you probably know its importance more. Traditional way of capturing screenshot is by pressing PrtSc button on your keyboard and then pasting it into any image processing software such as MS Paint or Photoshop. If you need to highlight or show direction or crop only specific portion on your screenshot, then you need to use Photoshop. It becomes quite tedious if you have to take screenshots frequently.
Lightshot is a light weight application software designed to ease your pain of taking screenshots. It facilitates you to capture screenshots as well as provides other functionality such as uploading it, highlighting certain area, type tools, a crop tool and so on. It runs in the background and activates when you hit PrtSc button on your keyboard.
2. Convert YouTube Video to Gif
You will like this you are a fan of Imgur or 9gag. There’s a very simple step to convert any YouTube videos into Gif within minutes. Follow these steps to do so:
- Open the YouTube video that you can to convert.
- Now just add gif before youtube and press Enter. For example: if the video URL is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smHxeRdf7oI then your final URL should look like htttp://gifyoutube.com//watch?v=smHxeRdf7oI after replacing www. with gif.
- You will be then directed to another site where you will create your gif as per your choice.
3. Google Mirror
If you type www.elgooG.im instead of www.Google.com, you will be directed to Google mirror website which functions same as Google.com but everything appears opposite. You can search results and even play games here. This can be used for fun only.
For searching any things, you need to type the mirror image of the word that you want to search. For example, for searching FOOTBALL you have to type LLABTOOF.
Do you know that you can navigate your hard drive through your browser? You can also read your pdf files, view image, play musics and even watch movies in your browser. Just navigate to the required file and click on it. For example, if you want to play music, navigate to the your music folder and then click on the song which you want to play.
5. StayFocusd Chrome Extension
From its name you might have got a slight hint about what I am going to talk about. StayFocusd is a chrome extension that allows you to block websites and help you concentrate on your works. You can set the time limit and tweak default settings as per your preferences. There’s also a NUKE options that permanently blocks the sites for certain time duration and you can’t remove the block unless you delete or disable the extension in chrome.
6. Advance Search for Movies in Google
You can download or search for any movies in Google.com using the command : indexof: movieName in the search box. For example: for searching Skyfall, type: indexof: skyfall 720p where 720p is the resolution.
7. Download YouTube Videos without any software
This is one of the common and frequently used tech tricks. You can use any 3rd party software such as 4K downloader or YouTube Video Downloader to download YouTube videos. However, there’s an easy technique to download videos of desired resolution directly through your browser. Follow these steps to do so:
- Open the YouTube Video that you want to download.
- Replace everything before youtube with ss and hit Enter.
- Now it will direct you to another site. Select the desired resolution and click on Download.
8. Play YouTube Videos Repeatedly
There are some songs or the latest trending songs that you might want to listen repeatedly. Usually, people click on replay button to listen to the song again and they have to do it each time after the song is finished. However, there’s a functionality that many us are totally unaware of, which allows us to repeatedly play the same video again and again.
- Open up any YouTube video and Right click on it.
- There you will see a feature called Loop. Just click on it. Now, the video will run in a loop.
9. Access Blocked Websites

To access the site, you need to type the website address in the search bar.
10. BugMeNot
Some sites ask you to register or sign in to view or access their content. In certain cases, you don’t want to register but still want to access its content. In that case, this BugMeNot website will be really useful. It provides you login credentials of random users that you can use for temporary access. Not all websites login credentials are available on this site.
To search just enter the domain name of the website and it will show the results along with Username, Password and Success ratio.
